Vacation Mode Wardrobe Everyday
Not a brand, a mode.
I was thinking about that feeling you get on the third day of a holiday. When you are wearing sunscreen as skincare. When your hair just does something in the humidity and you’re like, wait, maybe I’m hot in a low effort way? When the outfits you packed stop being “looks” and start being the new you. Like they were made for you and your vacation.
That was the beginning of Modalità Vacanza - not a brand idea at first, just a private realisation that my vacation wardrobe remembers parts of me that real life edits out. A realisation that the way I dress when I’m away feels more like me than anything I put on in real life.
The bikini I wear as a top on its own. The market bag I carry as a clutch. The wrinkled linen shirt that becomes a dress if I tuck it into nothing. None of these would fly in a meeting. But they work on a balcony in Italy, or a long lunch with no plans after. They’re time travelers, really. They make me feel like my whole self, not just the productive one.
There’s a nostalgia to that. A sense that the clothes you wear away from your “real” life are actually a form of remembering. Not escaping. Reclaiming.
What’s In My Emotional Suitcase
The piece that always comes with me - literally:
The Sheer Dress That Birthed Modalità Vacanza
It’s sexy. Incredibly sheer. I made it with my Nana and wore it through Mexico. I wore it over my bikinis during the day and then out at night kissing my boyfriend 4 Coronas deep. It has stories in the seams. The salty hair, sunkissed cheeks, Mexico even c leared my skin. I swear. I didn’t change a single product, I just surfed, laughed and loved being somewhere new. Whatever it was, it made me glow. This sheer dress is designed to feel like second skin and reflects that exact “bare all, natural” feeling I felt.
Why I Started This
I wanted to bottle that feeling, the “vacation version of me”. Modalità Vacanza is that mood. That mode. That moment when your clothes feel like the best parts of you that don’t clock in or check out.
So every week, I’ll show you something from that wardrobe: a memory, a mood, a styling tip, a sun - drunk thought, a note on being a woman in a world that demands a lot but gives a little back when you dress like you mean it.
Maybe you’re on a trip. Maybe you’re in Kingscliff. Maybe you’re just closing your laptop a little earlier than usual.
Wherever you are, I hope you’re feeling even a little bit like the you you packed for.
Until next week - in silk, in sandals, in sentiment .
